Micro-Cares(tm) Clinical Information System (CISCL) for Windows 95/98/Me/XP is an electronic medical record platform and is the result of a developmental process that began with the use of a minicomputer-based data management system for Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center (Bronx, NY, USA) by James J. Strain, M.D. in 1977.  CISCL now is a standalone adn network-supporting software program, a clinical database with keyboard and/or pen entry capabilities, in it's sixth iteration.  Several separate modules have been created and other specialties have used version of the system, including General Medicine and Gerontology. 

The addition of Palm OS handheld support with bi-directional information synchronization specifically targets larger, concurrent multi-user departments or hospital divisions.  Complete handheld management in controlled from the desktop system.  A Pocket PC handheld version is in development with expected availability in May 2005.
