New Micro-Cares(tm) Versions under Development
Advances and Upgrades in Technology and Software
May 8th, 2000 -- Several new versions of the Micro-Cares(tm)
software have been developed and are in the piloting or distribution
stages:
 | At the request of the Australian Group under the direction of Graeme Smith
(Monash University, Melbourne, Australia), a special, customizable
reporting package utilizing Microsoft(tm) Word has been
developed. It allows the user to generate reports and transparently
display and edit them using the special formating features inherent to the
Word program. International paper standards, customized logos,
"on-the-fly" editing for local-regional needs is possible, and
choice and customization of the information included can be performed by the
user as the situation requires.
|
 | A new version of the Micro-Cares(tm)
Literature Search program has been upgraded for Y2K, and
includes new advanced reporting features. New screens and customizable
toolbars are provided. Many new capabilities and navigation options
have been added at the request of users.
|
 | A new, upgraded Portuguese Version
of the Clinical Information System has been customized with the help of
Serafim Carvalho's group in Oporto, Portugal. New functionality
including customized language menus, smoother navigation in the input of
demographic information, updated user interface, new printing functionality
using Crystal Reports 7.0, and other client-requested customization was
performed. New Portuguese language manuals are in progress.
|
 | A new version of the Psychiatric Literature
Database with articles and commentaries, current as of May
2000 is available. It provides excellent access to multiple core
teaching articles and specialized commentary by experts in Psychiatry and
other specialties to assist in both providing a resource to guide direct
patient care and instructing non-specialists in "clinical pearls"
related to complicated psychiatric diseases.
|
 | An updated Spanish Version is
nearing completion, with specialized questionnaires, customized menus and
navigation, an upgraded graphic users interface (GUI), and enhanced database
for patient case storage and tracking. Similarly, a Spanish-language version
of the manual will soon be available for general use.
|
 | A Palm operating system (OS)
version of the database, for use on 3COM's Palm IIIe(tm) and higher versions
of their handheld devices is being prototyped. A similar version is
being planned for the Windows CE(tm)
operating system. |
